.BACKSTORY.

Once the secondary Arch-Mage of the Many Starred Cloak, Ceridwyn Starweaver had an awful lot to be proud of. She was revered by her peers - yet she always seemed to seek more, looking deeper into texts most thought forbidden and bad for one’s sanity. However, she seemed ever-unaffected, bolstered by the pursuit of genius and knowledge alone.Presented with the conundrum of ‘eternal life’, Ceridwyn spent her time outside of Arch-Mage duties exploring the concept - endlessly buried in her work. Often she was found, fast asleep at her desk - scattered with books and a half-lit candlestick. All seemed well - despite her endless work, she seemed tenfold in her element - ever pushing for answers to the many questions of life and beyond. In fact, she even married at 24, to an elf named Yelenden Ashflight - and gave birth to their first child at 25; a young boy named Carpeiros. However, that seemed to change in 1385, when the Spellplague struck Neverwinter, killing her husband and son. Desperate, she tried to do all she could to cure her son and husband - yet, was told with dying breaths that she should instead seek answers, and maybe even a cure. With a heavy and broken heart, Ceridwyn fled, far away as the Cloak Tower was teleported to the Far Realm - alongside all of her work and research.Somehow, Ceridwyn took this loss in stride (or as best she could), traveling across Faerûn to find ancient texts and myths - delving into ruins and ancient libraries to find those answers. To Tethyr, to Thindol, to Murghôm - all the way across the realm to amass knowledge that she had previously lost. All of a sudden, though…The Cloak Tower returned. With no sign of its Wizards, just their colorful cloaks. Confused, she sought to find more about the disappearance - and frustratingly, only received nothingness. No answers - just a simple…emptiness.

Instead, she pulled herself away from all of it - overwhelmed with the lack of knowledge she could glean from the remains of the Cloak Tower. Ceridwyn fled to the High Forest in turn, drawing strength from her magic and creating a mansion in the verdant mess. Half-visible to those attuned to magic, invisible for those not accustomed. For years, she spent her time buried in the greenery of the Forest, gaining a mystical reputation as ‘The Witch of High Forest’- healing injuries by somehow ‘reversing time’, which is highly debated and discussed among circles outside of Northwest Faerûn. Though one thing rings true - those who visit her with injuries or curses return healed and at the prime of their health. However, rumors circulate very well - and after the surviving mages of the Many-Starred Cloak returned as the Cloaked Ascendency, they laid a trap for Ceridwyn. One afternoon, she received information of a newly-rumored ruin beneath the Spires of Mir - to which Ceridwyn naively followed. When she arrived, she was ambushed by an old friend named Nostura - who sought for Ceridwyn to return to the guild, and take over Neverwinter with the rest of the Ascendency. When Ceridwyn refused, a fight ensued - a fight so remarkably powerful that it split The Vorpal Tower in two. With each side wounded grievously, Ceridwyn fled - returning to the High Forest with deeper protections in place. In genuineness, she wants to be left alone by all remnants of her past - instead deciding to make greater futures and caring for those in need.Though, she’s always tempted by the promise of knowledge, sometimes even venturing out across Faerûn to find ancient tomes and artifacts.
